Sunshine After The Rain -KingsStock 2017

This is my third visit to the grassroots festival on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border in Moggerhanger Park. This year I could only attend on the Saturday, the busiest day on their calendar, but I was determined to make the most of it! Also the festivals unique policy of not having performances overlap, helped the mission!

It followed a week of “shower bombs” in the area but thankfully the weather was a pleasant mix of cloud and sun- these were some of my favourite performances of the day…

Matt Hurley was an artist I had the privilege of reviewing his release”Pebbles”last year.

His brilliant performance at the festival introduced songs from his release ” Raising Questions”. It was a real pleasure to enjoy his acoustic set and meet the man in person!

It was my first encounter with Voices Beyond from Manchester. They were singing songs from their EP , demonstrating amazing Gospel vocals and an uncanny knack for a great song hook! A great cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed Sealed Delivered” as well!

Dave Griffiths was another artist I reviewed last year when “Here And Now” was released.

Subsequently I have played “Abide” from the album several times on my show. His set this year , was a great reminder of what a great artist he is, demonstrating his wealth of experience .. and superb guitar skills! (Oh, and he did a great version of Don Henely’s “Boys Of Summer”!!)

Dire Pitan delivered beautifully smooth vocals at KingsStock this year, but this was not my first hearing as I had also reviewed the EP, which demonstrates what a talented artist this is!
Others are noticing too, he is playing The London Hard Rock Cafe in September!
Daughters of Davis has played at the festival on numerous occasions. During this time they have supported mainstream artists and have preformed on Radio 2. This was the first time I have seen them on stage with a full band, it suited them well and seemed like a natural environment! It also gave us an opportunity to hear songs from their latest album released last year “Not Playing The Game”.

It was a perfect end to an amazing day!
